C5500 toner question

I hope I remember to explain everything, but excuse me if I do not.

I have a C5500 Okidata that I purchased 8-10 years ago. I need to replace original toner yellow cartridge. I have purchased an aftermarket Yellow toner from 3 different companies and all throw the error code 614; incompatible toner. OK, I know what that means. But they all swear that their toner should work and with three different companies' toner (chips are in toner) I am wondering why I cannot get it to work.
